Out of the Silent Planet – Postscript

I had not planned to comment on the postscript at all… It is an excerpt of a letter written from Ransom to the narrator Lewis (in which he is finally called Lewis) about the text of the book and recounting other images and events that took place on Malacandra which have not yet been told.

I had not planned to comment on it but I find in it, toward the end, what I consider to be the most beautiful sentence of the book (or most of the literature that I have read), so I shall quote that and be done. It concerns seeing Jupiter from the handramit:

And now the true king of the night is set up, and now he is threading his way through that strange western galaxy and making its lights dim by comparison with his own.
